TL;DR bunch of crashed ships, animals mutated from radioactive leaks and are now robot-y. This is where Gearbird would live among other cyborg critters, you may find some other mutated species throughout the world, but I imagine that a creature like Gearbird would be very territorial of its nest and choose not to leave even though the area is making it sick. I imagine Gearbirds nest would just be a massive heap of scrap metal and bones, it put the gears on it's body to attract a mate, despite being the last member of it's species, (plus obviously the massive metal shears on it's face are for hunting)
