i thought it would be cool to list every unnecessary flap feature/detail that isn't common for similar games to have and doesn't have anything to do with the gameplay this is mostly for me to get an idea of how much of this kind of stuff i put in the game lol, tho it was all totally worth it this is kind of stuff is the main reason why i like playing and making games - on national flan day (August 21st, not a real national holiday) the game is changed from flap to flan. This applies to Flap, the game's logo (even in the credits!), the version number and changelog, the controls prompt, and Bob acknowledges the absurdity of this as well if you click on him. - if the game is played at 3AM, the simple act of flapping is clickbaited (like on the thumbnails of those really cringe "scary" 3AM videos that appeal to children) - If the game is played on Halloween, the ground changes to concrete to look like a sidewalk, and the game is stuck in perpetual nighttime (referencing the idea of trick-or-treating in a neighborhood or something). It's kinda common for these kinds of games to celebrate holidays, but it put this here because it's so incredibly subtle lol - Flap and Bob are developed characters with their own personalities and multiple lines of dialog - Flap currently has 274 different things he can say when he dies (including ones that are Christmas-specific), and each of those things can have one or more lines, sometimes several. - a lot of them are references to memes or pop culture - A few of them has Flap address the user directly, and it checks for if the user is signed in or not and changes accordingly. - One of them has Flap read the entire story of creation form the Bible (Genesis 1:1-2:3 NIV). - Much of Flap's dialogue is intentionally written to have the player associate Christianity with positive things and in an authentic way, making them more inclined to Christianity. This is my attempt at a relatable form of semi-evangelism and is objectively the most important part of the game, and evangelism is the most important thing I could ever do. - Bob curiously looks at the player's mouse cursor, and flinches when you poke his eyes with it. - the main menu has ©PersonPersonson 2022-2024 in the bottom left corner, with the "©" flipped horizontally. This is a joke referring to how I created the game, but it isn't copyrighted; the flipped copyright symbol represents "copyleft" and the game being under the Creative Commons Attribute-ShareAlike license, which applies to all projects shared on the Scratch website. The same copyleft symbol can be found next to the share date underneath every Scratch project. A more specific share-alike variation of the symbol exists, but not as a text character (the copyleft symbol to the share date is text-based and can be copied as "©"). - This joke was added with the main menu in the rewrite update and is inspired by a game I'm working on which had this same thing first. other things that kinda count but not really: - the game's look changes based on the season IRL (specifically based on the Northern Hemisphere) - the code is thoroughly commented and there's a few extra costumes and fun facts in there - the changelogs are extremely thorough, for better or worse
