While unaware of the greater galactic wars ongoing, Cliopathia has been effectively destroying itself in a 70 year long global conflict of extermination between the Cliopsthian Empire, & the Alliance(made up of the human nations, fresh water tribes, & remnants of the rebels from the civil war) which has resulted in the death of an estimated 10 billion people from both sides, the situation grows desperate each day, as the human nations officially conscripted every last man, women, & child into the armed forces, as they have no choice but to fight on. The empire has made it clear they were going to terminate those who "Get in the way of Cliopathian progress"..... Background: After the civil war, the young empire was on the verge of collapse. Anarchy ruled much of the planet, ex-tribal kings & queens plotted against the emperor, the economy was virtually nonexistent, & rebel resistance still fought on in space & on Cliopathia. The emperor needed a common enemy to unite his falling empire...... With the humans being the only other people on the planet, they were the obvious choice. The emperor would try over & over to provoke war, but the humans new his intentions & did not fall for his traps. During which time, the emperor & his followers stoked anti-land walker sentiment across Cliopathia. He would begin strip mining the landmasses of Cliopathia, harvesting the vast resources & creating living space for further settlement. War would come 70 years on this day, when the emperor ordered the strip mining of a human coastal city. Destroying the ground it stood on, the city of Dourbon with millions of people sank below the sea...... It was the final straw, & the human republic of Jurdi declared war on the Cliopathian empire, & began attacking their strip mining operations. Soon, the rest of the human nations joined, followed by the fresh water Cliopathians(who knew that strip mining all landmasses would mean the erasing of the fresh water rivers/lakes they needed in order to survive, plus their deep economic connections with human river villages only deepened tensions with the empire) & then a few coastal Cliopathian cities who's structures relied on land & had deep economic ties with the humans. A handful of surviving rebel fleets & geurilla fighters left over from the civil war would also join the alliance. The alliance had the upper hand in the yearly years of the war, as the imperial forces found it hard to fight on land, & had to deal with the human navies & coast guards. But this did not last, new technologies & weapons were eventually created to overcome these logistical challenges. From Tripods, to caterpillar-like tanks that allowed the water breathing Cliopathians to wage war on land. Imperial forces would clear an area of resistance, & then strip mine the area+move on. As the sea gradually ate up the land, destroying the very land the humans & fresh waters needed for survival. The war became a war purely for survival for the alliance, surrender was not an option. In desperation, the alliance would fire several nuclear missiles at the empire, which only gave the emperor more anti-human propaganda to fuel Cliopathian hatred towards land walkers. The war proved to be a huge success for the emperor, it united his nation against a common enemy, & would give him the perfect excuses to get rid of political opposition. The war helped revive the economy, & the militarization of Cliopathian society would eliminate anarchy, rebellions, & plots to overthrow the emperor. Anyone who opposed his iron fist, would ether be executed for "Pro-Human Sympathies" or sent to the front-lines to face certain death. He wanted a long brutal war of attrition, as it only helped centralize & solidify his rule. & being a die-hard Cliopathian nationalist, he & his followers believed humanity deserved a slow & painful death...... Bit by bit, year by year. The alliance was pushed back, & could not advance to retake lost ground with it strip mined away. The emperor would construct "concentration cities" near strategic locations. These cities were populated by millions of kidnapped human children, raised in the most horrific & extreme poverty. They would grow to have no knowledge of the outside world even existing. These cities serve as literal human shields to protect key imperial military bases, factories, & large cities from allied attacks. The war would go on for so long, that entire generations would grow up knowing nothing but war & hatred towards the other side. As desperation for survival grew, every single allied man, women, & child would be in this fight. Human society would become even more militarized then Cliopathian as a side effect of this, becoming less democratic & more militaristic not by choice, but for their continued survival......
(Out of rp) If your planning to intervene, can you do it when the humans repair their communications & call for help? i am working on several art projects depicting this war, & would like to finish them before ppl intervene & end it. Background on the human nations: Thousands of years ago, a colonial transport ship known as the "Oracle" from an unknown galactic power was sucked into wormhole, transported into Cliopathia's system, & crashed on the planet. The passengers & crew had no way to contact home, or repair their ship. They would try, but infighting & the fact that they were tens of thousands of light years away from home in a time before trans-galactic travel, they were unable to contact their forgotten home world & almost collapsed in a short mini-civil war. The survivors would put their differences aside, & found the city of Oracle. Deciding that going back home was impossible, & the only way to survive was to adapt to this strange new world. Over time, the small human population would grow & expand, developing its own cultures & even languages. They would eventually come into contact with the fresh water & coastal Cliopathian tribes, & trade technology for information on the planet's weather cycles, wildlife, & what's safe to eat or not. A deep economic connection would be formed, but it would have a darker side....... The introduction of post-warp technology to a mostly tribal civilization was bound to cause issues. Suddenly local tribal conflicts involved rapid plasma weapons, nuclear bombs, & battles for space supremacy. In just a few short decades, the tribal powers went from medieval era technology, to technology even surpassing the humans who gave them it. The emperor's father was actually a close friend of the humans, growing up on a small coastal village he had plenty of contact with them. When he was wounded during the Utillian wars, he was saved by a human mercenary who was fighting for the enemy side, but grew up in a human port town near his village & so dragged him back to his own lines to get medical care. After seeing his village being nuked, & every we ever loved turned into shadow...... He vowed that never again will anyone feel the pain & trauma of war, & took over as chief of his tribe. He then began the wars of Cliopathian unification, & was actually aided by the human nations in the "war to end madness!" & eventually, he would unite all Cliopathian tribes under one banner, the Cliopathian confederacy. He would be its head monarch, while the smaller tribes were united into small kingdoms with much autonomy under confederation. Some rumors suggested he was inspired by the human republics, & planned to install more democratic governments. He would declare the humans to be equals, & a golden age of Cliopathia began. But for every great king, there is a terrible one..... He was so busy being a good king, that he barely spent anytime teaching his son how to be a good king. Instead, his son was raised by corrupt ministers & advisers, raising him to be the perfect puppet. The ministers(already disillusioned with the king's trust in humanity) would make his son hate land walkers, & become the UltraNationalist monster he is today.....
