This is what I think is the ideal storyline for the 2026 and 2027 movies Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with Robert Downey, Jr’s Doctor Doom as the main antagonist. Bear with me, this is a long one. Background information: a series of X-Men movies have already been made, including actors like Patrick Stewart and James Marsden. However, there is a timeline reset thing in the middle of the series, creating a new set of actors with a new storyline, like James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender. The former will be referred to as the Old X-Men, with Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Mystique, and Beast. The latter will be referred to as the New X-Men, with Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Phoenix, Mystique, Beast, and Evan Peters’ Quicksilver (not the one from AoU). One day, as everyone was minding their own business, all of Earth’s mightiest heroes were suddenly teleported to a remote island in the ocean. All of the superhuman individuals of Earth were called here, including the Avengers, the New Avengers/Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four, Shang-Chi, Shuri/Black Panther, Namor, and Loki. As they arrive, and are all confused on why they all appeared there at the same time. In case you’re curious, the confirmed avengers are Thor, captain America, Bucky, yelena, red guardian, ghost, John Walker, Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm, Human Torch, the Thing, Shang-Chi, Shuri/Black Panther, Namor, Loki, and M’Baku. As an answer to their question, from the sky descends Doctor Doom. Doctor Doom explains that for his conquest of the multiverse, he needs a powerful army. As a result, he calls on the heroes of Earth-616 to help them because of the mighty opponents that they have defeated. When all of them refuse, Doom gets angry and attacks them. Doctor Doom is a very powerful sorcerer, so they are immediately overwhelmed, and only escape when a mysterious group of similar heroes rescue them, and fend Doom off long enough for them to escape. When they all get back to the Avengers Compound, the heroes reveal that they are the X-Men, a group of heroes similar to the avengers. In the X-Men canon, they are “mutants” whose genetic mutations make them powerful forces. These X-Men are the same as Fox’s X-Men trilogy in the early 2000’s. The confirmed X-Men for Avengers: Doomsday are Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Grammer’s Beast, Romijn’s Mystique, Marsden’s Cyclops, Mckellan’s Magneto, Stewart’s Professor X, and Tatum’s Gambit. It is revealed that the X-Men were asked before the Avengers to be part of Doom’s army, but refused, so when Doom came to Universe 616 to request the Avengers’ help, he caused an incursion that fused the Avengers 616 and the Xmen’s universe together. The Avengers and the Xmen hunt down Doom for the whole movie, but get defeated time after time. However, squabbles and disagreements between the two teams result in the teams going to war with each other in an all-out fight. At the end of Avengers: Doomsday, Doom decides that the Avengers and the X-Men are too powerful, and know too much about his plan to conquer the multiverse, so he causes another incursion - bringing two other universes into the two currently colliding ones. In a suspenseful end to the movie, the four universes Doom has brought together are: The Avengers as we know them, the “Old” X-Men from the 2000s movies with actors like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan, the Dark Avengers (with Thanos, Ultron, ETC), and the “New” X-Men from the 2010s movies with actors like James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender. I know that seems really anticlimactic, but X-Men fans would be excited. This starts off Avengers: Secret Wars, a multiversal 4-way war between the avengers, the x-men, the avengers again, and the x-men again. New characters brought in that weren’t in doomsday include Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Wong, multiple X-Men that weren’t in Doomsday, and multiple others. This battling takes up about half of the Secret Wars movie, but when their constant fighting results in many casualties on all four sides, they are hesitant. The final straw is when the intense incursion Doom has caused causes the alternate Avengers and the new X-Men to completely fade out of existence. The 616 Avengers and the Old X-Men realize their mistake, and again team up against Doom. Eventually the might of the Avengers and the X-Men prevail, defeating Doom. Because he is a multiversal being, he does not have multiversal variants and instead has only one form that can travel across the multiverse. This means that he is permanently erased from all universes. To finish off the movie, Doctor Strange and Wong summon America Chavez, who works together with Strange and Loki with their multiversal powers to completely seal the multiverse off entirely, to prevent incursions like that ever to happen again, and to prevent any and all multiversal travel forever. The avengers and Xmen continue to coexist on Earth 616.
This storyline ends the Multiverse Saga and kicks off the Mutant saga. This starts the new saga, with movies of the avengers but also the X-Men, likely with Apocalypse as the main antagonist. The characters were extracted from the cast list, but all of the story elements were by me.
