A year has passed since Megaman defeated Bass and his forces. Badly damaged, Bass searched the globe for something that could make him strong enough to accomplish his goals. He eventually discovered a mysterious pink gem in South America. When he fused it with his energy core, he became an all-powerful robot sorcerer. Bass used his new power to take over the minds of 8 powerful robots from around the globe and took over the United Nations Headquarters, where he is holding several world leaders hostage. Megaman's friend, Dr. Cossack, was trapped in the building along with them and sent a distress message to Dr. Light. Now it is up to Megaman to destroy the enslaved robots and stop Bass before someone gets hurt.
