Instructions

Arrow keys or space to change images. Probably better in fullscreen. 1. Aurora. I had a hard time thinking of what sort of magical effect I should draw for her, since she can only absorb light and can't shoot laser beams or anything. I eventually put her surrounding herself in a bubble of darkness. It was kind of hard to draw her since adding shading regions to light clothing just comes out looking weird. 2. Jay preparing to do some sort of rocket-assisted falcon wind punch with his newly found (at least I assume he'll find them later in the series) air powers. 3. Luna looking cool with flames in the background. For this one I mostly copied the pose from the original artwork. The flames were really fun to draw. 4. Amber controlling a vine. I used the flower in ScratchStang's original drawing for the flower in her hair and growing on the vine. 5. Halcyon bending some water. By far my favorite of the drawings I made. The pose and water effects worked out really well, I think. 6. The Bogey (or the tentacle monster, or whatever you want to call it). We really haven't seen much of the dark tendrils that grabbed the sixth hostage in the comic, so I imagined a completely speculative monster design. I started with a few of the basic shapes used in the "Line15" costume from the comic and turned them into a head, body, and pair of tentacles. From there I added another pair of tentacles and went about adding detail. It ended up as sort of a bipedal, spider-faced version of the Glaucus atlanticus sea slug, which makes for a decently terrifying combination. ------------------------------------- Felt like drawing some action poses for @ScratchStang's characters. This ended up being a nice opportunity to practice drawing translucent effects (like Halcyon's water and Luna's fire) as well as legs and feet, since I typically only draw characters from the waist up. Turns out that adding toes and soles differently colored from the rest of the shoe really helps give the feet some volume instead of looking flat.
