PROLOUGE It was a bright, warm and sunny day. The deputy thought that he would’ve just strolled by before joining yet, another patrol. He shook his head, no. He wasn’t overworking himself. He was fine. “Bumblestep! You’re on patrol with me!” He called. Lightningsnap had always felt right with Bumblestep. His ear twitched, he was still a cat. He wasn’t alone woth his thoughts for now. “Let’s go,” he meowed, pointing to the exit with his tail. Bumblestep rolled her eyes, and mumbled, “why don’t you stop bossing us around like you’re leader for once?” Her voice was filled with annoyance, rather than fury. That was why Lightningsnap had enjoyed Bumblestep. CHAPTER 1 Lightningsnap stretched out, and yawned. “Morning,” muttered Falconfall, a warrior. Falconfall had been a good friend of Bumblestep. “Nice day, isn’t it?” Lightningsnap mewed back politely. Just after Lightningsnap had spoken, Bumblestep stirred. Her sister, Crushwalk, was already wide awake. “Lightningsnap!” She greeted happily. Crushwalk was the only cat who didn’t seem to mind Lightningsnap’s bossiness. She had always stood up for him. They’d been friends since apprenticeship. “What patrol am I assigned on today?” Her mew snapped Lightningsnap from his thoughts. “Okay er- Bumblestep and I will-” “I can’t help but feel you’ve been trying to go on patrols with Bumblestep lately.” Crushwalk murmured. “But why would you care?” Lightningsnap asked, not sounding rude, but rather curious. Crushwalk’s pelt burned. “She’s my sister,” she replied quickly. A loud yowl sounded from behind. A battlecry yowl. CHAPTER 2 WIP
