At @Clandestinely, I summed it up pretty well, so thank you Arrow and Duplex for reading my spiel over there :-) But for those who didn’t read what I wrote, I’m pretty much done with this site. I know I’ve said that countless times and always came back to post another project, but that was back then. I was a kid. I’m still a kid now, but I’ve gained a higher level of conscience since then. I live the examined life now, baby! I’m diving into high school and I’m gonna do all this amazing stuff - I’m giving graduation speeches 3 weeks from now! So yeah, I don’t really have the time for Scratch, and I feel like there are much better uses of my time. I used to kind of depend on this site, because I wasn’t able to interact with my friends in real life after school. So I talked to you guys, had some pretty great discussions. (You guys are pretty awesome individuals, give yourself credit.) But I can text my friends in real life now, which means yes - I don’t really need this site anymore. Like I also mentioned at @Clandestinely, this site helped me discover who I really was and who I wanted to be back in 6th and 7th grade. So thank you for being a part of that. I’m gonna quote myself, just because it explained things well: “Here [on Scratch], I’m a sloppy mess of my former 6th grade self who had all the time in the world to kick [butt] at [DMC] contests and stuff. I still draw a lot, but just not often digitally anymore. I ain’t got time [for that].” What I’d also like to tell you is that… always remember that there’s always someone behind the screen, someone who’s chasing dreams, conquering homework, and hustling for a better future, just like you. In my case, I was a little girl who was still trying to understand this world, this whole rodeo. I was impacted so much by all the other kids like you guys, and I’ve learned and grown since then. Never forget that what you say, do, or accomplish here on the Internet, you may impact the lives of other humans, either for the better or for worse. There is always someone else behind the screen. Never forget that.
But yeah, it’s been real. I’ve got new interests now, like completing entire album catalogues, (this school year alone, I’ve finished Coldplay, Daft Punk, twenty one pilots, Imagine Dragons, Harry Styles, Hozier, Black Pumas, Teddy Swims, Avicii, and The Weeknd), talking philosophy with my new friend group at school, and additionally, grad season is coming up, so we’ve got fun plans for this May and you know I’m going to enjoy all of it! I want to thank a few fellow humans from this site who’ve constantly fascinated me and have supported my journey for so long: • @Ghostusters, the one and only. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from knowing you is that people change, and that things don’t last forever. But thank you for the good times. • @-RisingArrow-, you are an incredible, like-minded person who has so much potential. Keep trying to find yourself, keep trying to understand life. Approach this world with curiosity, with optimism. I’m glad I inspired you, and I’m proud of who you’re becoming. Keep going. • @DuplexCode, thank you for always supporting who I am. No matter what spot I was at, whether I was having a rough time or living my best life, you championed my work and my journey. You’re an amazing person who knows their stuff. I know you’ll go on to do great things. • @Helm-, a fellow middle schooler from the States. You’re the perfect example of how the Internet has made an impact on kids like us, and thank you for bringing that perspective to my sight. • @tinsel_, you’re a hard worker, a fellow Asian, and have always been someone I could relate to. As long as you enjoy the ride, you’ll be where you want to be. Overall, Scratch was a tremendous place for me to explore who I am and open myself up to new doors and perspectives in the world. You guys are amazing individuals, and I know you all have the courage to succeed. Keep your head up, and you’ll find yourself in the brightest corners of life. I appreciate your time.
