Dress code. The two words that define half a girl's struggle. Ever seen a girl get dress coded? Multiple times, I bet. Ever seen a boy get dress coded? Little to none. Why do they discriminate girls? Why do we have bigger restrictions? Why? Why? Why? They believe that it's best for us to cover up. Some think that the dress codes were made for teachers, but they made students think it was targeted towards them. Some think that people will never fully stop underestimating women, and that the feminine expectation will live on no matter what. And both of these are fairly true if you think about it, but that doesn't answer our question. Why does the dress code seem to target girls? There are many reasons, truly. Mostly, they're excuses. Lots of excuses. But sometimes, you have to look at both sides of things. If they didn't restrict us, what would we be wearing to school? Maybe things that are simple but are barely out of dress code. But some people will go over the top to defy it. It isn't a simple offense. It's large. So they restrict and tighten security. That's all school knows to do. Sometimes, though, it's for your own good. Yet that doesn't mean that they couldn't loosen restrictions. They could let girls wear shorts as long as they aren't super short. They could let us show our shoulders if we didn't go too crazy with it. They could give us a chance. And maybe, one day we'll get one. To prove ourselves. To prove that we deserve some loosening on the dress code for girls. One day, it'll happen. We deserve it.
