★ I just started a drawing of keiryn [ tdp oc ] and decided to save some of the images of the process! I will also be providing commentary on each step and image. to clarify, I am not a professional, so this is all just stuff that I've worked out over time <3 ★ images ★ 1. sketch --> to start off with, I just do a messy sketch with just the basic ideas and pose. 2. lineart or something? --> this is really messy lineart which I am using as a guideline for colours later in the piece. 3. skin --> really basic flat colours with minimal shading for the skin. as you can see, I am now using the 'lineart' as a guideline rather than actual lines. 4. hair + tattoos --> following the guidelines, I blocked in the flatcolour for the hair and then used 2 other colours to shade it + provide depth 5. face details --> again using the guidelines, I drew in the main facial features [ eyes, nose and mouth ], and added colour to the eyes. I also added the ears 6. cloak --> added the cloak, just some basic shading around the darkest areas 7. horns + charm --> added the horns and small charm on the cloak, also cleaned up the hair a bit and added some extra strands 8. clothes --> clothes woo! just base colours with minimal shading, also added the other arm + back of cloak 9. sickle + touch-ups --> added the sickle, lines on fingers, cleaned up the face shading and added subsurface scattering 10. shading --> removed the bg [ ran out of layers T-T ] and added more visible shading with dark purple on multiply. to blend it into the unshaded parts there is also pale orange-pink on low opacity 11. more shading + lighting --> even more visible shading with darker colours on multiply + dark magenta on colour dodge for the pinkish light 12. bg --> painted a starry sky with purple hued galaxy behind - used the scatter feature on normal brush for stars 13. grass + shooting star --> to add depth I added some dark coloured grass in the bg and blurred it. I also added a shooting star in the sky to make it reminiscent of an old piece I made last year 14. filter --> bright pink on luminosity, helps bring the colours together a bit 15. blur + final piece --> blurred the edges of the piece and set that layer to lighten, then tidied up the gaps in the hair and we're done!
