[CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR WINGS OF FIRE BOOK FIVE] So. WoF graphic novels. I’ve seen many people point out mistakes in them. Easy to make, harmless mistakes. I don’t care about those. I’ve seen people slander the graphic novels for their art style. That is plain rude. Plot holes though? Slander away. My only significant problem with the graphic novels is something that I haven’t seen ANYONE other than myself point out. (not to brag but I’m totally bragging, tho I’m also annoyed that I’m the only one so far that I know of) If anyone else had noticed this PLEASE TELL ME it is driving me insane that no one had pointed it out yet Sunny’s scales. Fig. 1: Sunny in the graphic novels — Here we see 3 rows of scales along the neck (albeit somewhat warped proportion-wise, but that’s just how the illustrator draws sandwings), the same as all sandwings. This is wrong. Fig. 2: Sunny in the cover (canon Sunny) — As you can see here, Sunny’s scale placement is almost entirely that of a nightwing, her limbs being an exception. Her neck has /2/ rows of scales, the lower having these pretty silver dots, which is a nightwing trait. The cover of the original ‘The Brightest Night’ is vital foreshadowing of Sunny’s identity, and a huge part of her heritage, and the graphic novels completely erase that.
