An Asian's Life ------------------------ We study hard We work all day We work all night And make sure not To disappoint We get straight A's Yet we're looked at As a disgrace To our family Insults Pointed right at us Planned beforehand Just to cause a scene We can't yell back Yet a million comebacks Start appearing in our minds But we don't pout And don't lose our cool It's common We aren't fools And won't talk back Unless we want a slipper To our head We silently cry And walk to our rooms Read Write Or anything to take our minds Off the high expectations And pressure we face In this Cruel Heartless World
Just letting everyone know before an army forms in the comments: THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO EVERY ASIAN PERSON!!!!!!!!! This is simply based on some people's lives(not on mine as I am luckier than some). It is also partially based on stereotypes that have come to life over time. Some people work harder than others and are still told they aren't good enough. That is the only thing that is brought to awareness of others through this poem.
