ANS Ignatius was planned to be the SS Ignatius, a Pantelemion-class ferry, built in 1931 but completed in 1937 as an escort carrier. The ship saw intense action in World War 2, most notably in the Pacific. The ship remained in service throughout the Cold War, and is currently planned to retire in late 2025.
