Rede Nacional de Televisão de Angola (the "Angolan National Television Network" in English), RNTA, is an Angolan free-to-air television network owned and operated in the Southern African state of Angola. RNTA is headquartered in the capital city Luanda and broadcasts in the Portuguese language. It was founded on 1980 after the introduction of color television to Angola in order to increase broadcasting in the newly implemented system, but it didn't have an official on-screen logo until 1981. Prior to 1981, a prototype logo was used as a lead-in slide to programs broadcast on the network. It was originally a local station based in the capital, Luanda, but it eventually expanded to other major cities such as Cabinda and Huambo. In 1991, they began work on making broadcasting towers for smaller cities like Kubango and Luvemba, in order to "better facilitate the RNTA name to smaller Angolan households", says Company CEO Josué Lopes. As of 2025, their current television-based opponent is the TPA, although the beef between the two stations is more of an unserious joke rather than a full-on competition. This 1981 ID is considered the most famous from the company, and it has appeared in Angolan pop culture a multitude of times. It was so famous that it ended up being used for over 22 years! [THIS IS ALL A WORK OF FICTION, OBVIOUSLY.]
