[Found written in an old notebook. The title has been worn to nothingness with age, except a few letters Y _ N _ _NG - _ V_ _ W ON _ U_ M_A_N_ ] I believe there is much to be learned from the minds of the insane. {[From a torn page, tucked into the notebook] On what matters. What truly matters, in life? Really? Nothing, in my view. The worldview of humans is one that is depressingly narrow. What does it matter? When it is considered, truly, you will find that it truly doesn’t matter. You may be worked into history books, perhaps, but even so, that does not matter. That is merely a temporary immortality, until history is erased, for whatever reason, be it the heat death of the universe, or an oppressive government, or whatever the case may be. So is it truly immortality, if it will be erased when thinking upon a grander scale? I would presume not, and yet, people strive for this, every day. Strive for what? Recognition, when you no longer exist? Fame, when the generation you live with will be gone alongside you? Does it truly matter? I think not, and in any case, it will all end, anyways, eventually. } Truly extraordinary, how much can be gleaned by the minds dismissed by many as simply gone. {[another extract, this time stuck into the notebook] On the subject of life. Your brain is nothing but a powerful supercomputer, no? So you are as alive as a computer is. But we classify computers as not alive, do we not? So are we not alive? To the second question, the answer is more difficult. If it truly is, then autonomy would be, would it not? But true autonomy isn’t truly existent. So our life is not truly our own.} I feel that these insights could pave the way for the future, in many ways. Perhaps it would be wise to [A section was torn out of the page here.] May this be of use in the future, one way or another.
