The trees were swaying in the wind,like they were laughing at me.I ran towards the river that bordered Shadowclan and Thunderclan.I sat down.The wind blew a leaf in my face.I growled and brushed it off.The nearest branch blew dangerously near my face.I swatted at it.It swayed away for a second,then hit me right in the eyes.I fell on my back and sighed.Suddenly,a face appeared above mine.Jayflight.He smiled. “Funny seeing you here.”he meowed.He moved back to let me up. “I thought I was the only one who knew about this place.” “It's the border,”I snapped. “Everyone knows about it.” “Hey,woah!”Jayflight meowed. “What’d I do to you?”I laughed even though I knew it wasn’t that funny. “So,”Jayflight meowed,looking at me. “Come here often?”I sighed. “My sister got an apprentice.” “Exciting.She deserves it,”Jayflight said. “How?!” “Well,do you think your sister would do the same thing you are doing now if you got an apprentice?”He asked. I sighed. “No,” “Well,then be happy for her!Go support her!She just got her first apprentice,that’s something you should celebrate.” “I guess..”I meowed unexcitiedly. “She would do the same for you,so why not stop being angry at the world and be nice for once.”Jayflight said. “I…I just can’t.”Jayflight looked at me encouragingly. “I just look at her and I remember Foxmoon.” Jayflight was silent for a moment,the amount of sadness in his eye was unbearable.And yes,I said eye.Jayflight hides his other eye under his fur.Some cats say Sharptooth clawed it out.But no one knows. “She was my best friend.”he meowed,bringing my attention and crazy ideas back to him.Jayflight blinked. “But she’s gone,and nothing can change that.”He stood his grayish blue fur ruffling in the breeze. “Let’s get back to camp.”We padded in silence for a long time.Long enough for me to notice that when Jayflight walks,the leaves under his paws don’t stir or even move.I thought that was really weird,given how many leaves and sticks there are underpaw,but i didn’t say anything.We finally reached camp.When I started to walk into the entrance Jayflight stopped me. “You should apologize,”he meowed. “Her feelings are probably really hurt.” Jayflight’s like an empath.The moment I walk into camp,I see my sister at the other end of the clearing crying.I sigh and walk over. “Goldenmoon-”I start to say. “Leave me alone you selfish frog!”she yowled.She started to run but i blocked her. “Look,i’m sorry-” “Save it.”she barged past me into the forest.I sighed again. “You sigh a lot.”I jumped.Behind me was Moonkit,Goldenmoon’s future apprentice. “I don’t mean to.”I say curious and self-conscious. “Well,ya do.”She meowed.Her mother, Wavecrash,comes up behind her. “Sorry about her.”she meowed. “Look,I wanted to tell you that Moonkit has decided to become a medicine cat.”I could feel my mouth drop open. “Y-you don’t have to do that for me-” “I want to be a medicine cat!”Moonkit meowed. “It was her decision.”Wavecrash meowed. “Oh,but..won’t that crush Goldenmoon though?”I asked. “She’s your sister.”She meowed “You tell me.”I turned away from them.Jayflight was watching me.When he realized I noticed he smiled.I sighed again. “Told ya!”Moonkit whispered to her mother.Now it was her turn to sigh.I turned towards her again. “Listen,”Wavecrash meowed quietly. “When my sister died in Riverclan,the last thing I remember was screaming at her before I left for Thunderclan.It was the worst mistake I ever made,not saying good-bye.”She sighed again. “I don’t want the same thing to happen to you.” “Why?My sister won’t change clans.”Will she?I thought.I gasped. “What if she’s joining them right now?”I looked desperately at Wavecrash for advice. “I highly doubt that.”she meowed,smiling again. “Your sister’s Thunderclan through and through.” “But we weren’t born here.”I meowed,lowering my gaze. “None of us were.”said Wavecrash. “Moonkit and the apprentices are the only clanborn cats here.” “Really?”I looked up at her again. “Yes,really.”she turned and started walking in the opposite direction. “Did your sister think you would never leave Riverclan?”I asked.Wavecrash hesitated,but only for a second. “I'm not going to lie to you, Hollythorn.”She meowed. “But yes,”She walked away before I could respond.Her kit was still staring at me. “Bye!”She meowed and ran after Wavecrash. “Bye,”I said quietly.
