Chapter 1 part 1: I gasped as the water in my fur dragged her down into the waves. “Help!”I gasped.A white she-cat ran along the bank.Her green eyes filled with fear and water streaming off her pelt. “I’m coming Songkit!”she yowled.I saw two kits trying to swim beside me.Their orange and brown fur showing through the waves.Rain fell into my eyes,blinding me. “Help!”I tried to swim towards them,fighting to get air but everything suddenly went black.I woke up,gasping and my paws flailing. “Hey!”A black and white tom picked his head up. “You're kicking me!” “Sorry,”I meow, tucking my paws under me. “You okay?”another tom near the middle of the den asked. “Fine,”I blushed.I’d known Jayflight for years and always wondered if he liked me back. “I’m fine.”I stood and shook out my fur,wishing I could shake the nightmare out of my head.I left the den,self conscious about Jayflight and his brother watching my leave.My sister bounced over to me. “Hollythorn!”she meowed excitedly.“Guess what?”She was freaking me out,so I asked what. “Thunderstar said I can have an apprentice tomorrow!” “Oh,”I meowed,disappointed.There was only one kit in the nursery,and it was clear I wasn't getting an apprentice anytime soon. “Sorry,”my sister tried. “I didn’t realize you wouldn’t be getting one.” “Well you should have!”I snapped at her.I ran towards the entrance. “Wait!Hollythorn!I didn’t mean-”But I was too far away to hear the rest of her sentence.
