So, in light of recent events (the bans of lots of users, including my pal, @Afraid-of-Spiders) for various reasons. As it appears, the scratch team is going after artists, and popular ones at that. For example, AoS was banned for unmonitored streaming. It's worth noting that NOWHERE in scratch's rules does it say anything near this. Although it could be understood that a stream might be inappropriate for some ages, an argument could be made that an artist, or any scratcher for that matter, advertising Deviantart, Tumblr, or other social media on their profile could be considered under this something category. If that was the case, tons of users would be banned, but that's not happening. ST is often doing things like this with few to no prior warnings, leaving the affected user/s scrambling to get their account back. Another common reason for the ban is the discouragement of recoloring. While I'm completely fine with the recoloring of my art, and understand that not every artist is able to draw art humans or dogs or cats or whatever that well, not every artist is ok with that. For example, although most all of my art is "up for grabs", I'd prefer people not recolor or use my vent art, as that is personal to me, so I understand why certain people don't want their art recolored. According to ST, this is "discouraging remixing", although many of these artists are fine with their art to be remixed, as long as it isn't recolored they just use the scripts. If you ask me, I'd assume that the reason is because this website has recently been more in the spotlight, getting commercials on Cartoon Network, being used in schools, and even colleges. I don't blame ST for trying to clean up a bit, but that's no reason to ban perfectly innocent users. If this continues, scratch will become something it's not, a website for clean-cut 10-year-olds who never do anything wrong. Eventually, the artists and animators will come back and everybody who was brought here through advertisements will leave, causing even fewer users than they started with. Scratch is a fantastic programming tool, if you aren't using it purely as such, chances are, scratch team will find a way to ban you. I'm not saying the banned artist are in the right, and I'm not saying ST is in the wrong, I'm saying you, as a to stay safe! Scratch is a fantastic, crazy website where people from 8 to 80 can express themselves, but it's incredibly hard to keep it that way if people are being banned left and right for outrageous accusations.
