-------------------------------------Lore------------------------------------- This is the ultimate guide to the naming of this studio and what concepts I want to draw into with this roleplay. I will edit this and release a prophecy later (urgh. Prophecies. Not the best.) so that when we have more cats, they can be included. However, please do not ask for a position. I will choose people based on activity, writing skill (you can have your OCs do it to show off a bit to help me), and potential. But, this means that you are giving me full control over what role your character has (though you are permitted to deny it) in the story. ... There was a cat named Radiance. She had brilliant silver fur, sometimes dappled with crimson and black, sometimes striped with brown, sometimes faded into another color at the tips of her ears and tail, occasionally switched to give the illusion of wearing shadow. Her eyes, too, changed; Some days, they were foretold blue, other hazel, others green, and some even said they were blind and sparkled with starlight. Three things about Radiance remained well-known, however... One was her gender. She was female, never had mated, and never intended to. Two, she was wild, and she had no siblings or parents. Cats whispered that one day a star had fallen to the ground and become Radiance in her entirety. Three, Radiance knew everything they whispered. She was often rumored to be omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent, knowing everything and directing prey into jaws. Indeed, the cats that knew her best agreed with these statements, though no cat has evidence other than one's word on these happenings. Anyway, back to Radiance's story. She lived in a cross of a maple and a willow tree overlooking a river that ran from a mountain past her plateau. She hunted fish, birds, deer, and rodents; Anything she could find was fair game, and then she'd share it with the less fortunate. The water she drank from was always pure, brimming with light and life. Occasionally, competition would come for Radiance, to fight for her land--most often badgers and foxes--but Radiance would always smile coyly and reply in their own language something cats could not understand; It is still unknown what she told each beast and directed to each hawk that turned them away from her peaceful haven and off into the world elsewhere. She lived but a few seasons, however, as word got out about the luck she held in her paws and the eternal laughter sparkling in her eyes, of the safe place, and many cats came. Tabbies, tortoiseshells, bicolors, colorpoints- Any cat you could think up came, with pelts of silver, ebony, gold, ivory, bronze, and copper, eyes sparkling of sapphire, jade, topaz, emerald, and ruby. Some held fangs as sharp as knives, while others had claws as blunt as the shorebeds they stood on. Radiance, unlike any other cat, didn't fear or turn away the newcomers, though the other cats advised against it. She welcomed each and every pattern and pelt and eye color into her haven, treating them all like kin and watching over them with a fierce eye. However, she did not watch for them, and so, at night, when all bad things happen, after a fresh rain and a brilliant hunt, four greedy cats slunk after Radiance as she went to watch the stars. Two were male, two were female, the toms named Rock and Sky, the she-cats were Water and Fire. The four were all jealous of Radiance's skill. "Why, only I should be able to catch fish!" Water meowed out of turn, cross. "I am named after the very things' home; What is more wrong than taking the thing I claim?" Sky had been nearby and he meowed, responsive, "And the way she battles the very heavens for the prey of the deceased! Only they should feast upon the bounties of the sky." And Water and Sky made an agreement: They would do something, something to set the world back into balance, to take back what had been given to them. The next night, Sky brought Earth and Fire to meet Water, who greeted them courteously. "That cat steals the warmth so sparingly given and bestows it to only those who agree with her," Fire said that night, breaking a silence, a pelt of copper and eyes of ruby glinting in shadow. "She scrapes up the dirt so left for us and implants her paws where they do not belong," Earth added. And that night, the four came to a conclusion. To take their land back, they must get rid of its ruler. They would have to destroy Radiance. So, that fateful night, they followed the she-cat out to stargaze on the cliffside and thought no more. Earth was first, the most mild-mannered of the four, and asked for Radiance to help him with something. Radiance suspected nothing and followed, though surely, she would have known, for her response to Water and Fire's sudden attack was quick; She spun on them and smiled coyly at Fire, deftly flicking water at the she-cat's eyes. Fire could not swim in the river, so, unable to see, she slammed into the +
+ dirt, defeated. Water did not stop, however, and even as Sky joined them and Fire got back to her paws, she knew she was defeated. Before a single cat could lay paw on her pelt, Radiance turned and stared straight into Water's soul. "You thirst for the water you think I stole," Radiance meowed, expression stern. "You wish for the fish. You are Willow, for the tree always grasping at the waters, and I give you gills so you may swim along the fish forever as you so desire." Water stopped a moment later, claws digging into the ground, as her skin split and gills started forming. "I curse your followers the same," Radiance added as Fire rushed to help Water. "Fire, you crave warmth I never stole; Here, I'll give it to you. Enjoy your new heat resistance and the eternal Ash your name bears." Radiance grinned slightly, the mountain behind her erupting in a spitting mountain of fire and smoke. Fire yowled in anger and twisted, darting for the camp haven as Water's eyes went wide, and she dove into the water, terrified. Sky hissed in fury, lunging for Radiance, and she darted out of the way, letting him fall over the cliffside. "You wish for the skies. You wish for the predators I so defend you from. Take them with these new wings and claws and stir up Dust alongside them," Radiance said, turning to watch him as he fell toward the glassy surface of the water, wings unfolding smoothly from his shoulderblades. This time, Radiance didn't try to stop Earth as he leaped at her, allowing him to smash into her and slam her over the side of the cliff. Radiance said nothing, eyes narrowed. "I curse you, too, to never set paw on the ground you believed I to have stolen from you. May you live fearfully atop the bows of a Maple." she said simply, spinning and diving into the water. Radiance didn't resurface, remaining underwater. Water pulled herself atop the bank, trotting up to stand beside Earth. Fire ran over, pulling to a rest, as Sky soared down to rest beside them. The four turned, facing the water, where they saw a flash of silver. They swore, upon returning, that they saw her fade into starlight and flash away, but nobody ever saw her again. But occasionally, cats say they can still hear her final words echoing on the winds... "I see you taking the curses that were meant to contain you and naming them blessings. However, one of each of you will have an echo of me--an echo of radiance--running in your blood. Keep in mind that my eyes watch you still and I plot where your paws step, the waters flow, the winds wind, and the heat dwells." "You will never escape the wrath of a god awakened." Soon after Radiance's expulsion from the territory, StarClan found the forsaken, abandoned cats and took them under their paws, teaching them how to survive with the skills they now had. And so the Clans developed, taking the names of the things in which they found sanctuary: The willow, the maple, the ash, and the dust. ... About applying for a prophecy I have yet to make, you must make a remix of this project with your cat's prefix, gender, pronouns, desired Clan, and the rest of it should be a roleplay example. Forums are fine. No AI is permitted. You MUST show off your writing skills and make sure you do your best. If you don't show off and you aren't passionate, you won't have a chance to win. However, you must understand that if you win, I will not be announcing winners. I will decide who wins and talk to them privately so nobody else can know who they are. You may not sign up in the other project. Your preexisting cats may not be used. I will contact you when you are allowed to roleplay but again, no signing up at the traditional studio or people will know who got the role, and that would destroy the point. This means the soul will be unborn until necessary. Also, the prophecy will be changing, so if I draft you for a prophecy cat, you must be willing to wait and you must be willing to understand that you may be removed and/or readded to the list at any given time. Patience is the ultimate tool here. Please, no preexisting cats! Rules (aside from the ones above): -Please remix. If you run out of room, feel free to use forums! -Pelts and eye colors don't matter as long as they're realistic. -No being Clanborn- without permission from @Echo_of_Radiance. You may have the Clan’s features. -If you are a prophecy cat (every cat will be approved, either for roleplay, or for the prophecy) don't tell anyone. -Must start as kits, though RP examples can be at any age (just don't claim suffixes, please)! -Please secure an adoptive parent before I accept you and include it somewhere with their "yep I can do that" linked. -Adoptive parents should be leader, deputy, healer, or experienced cats. This should be true for most if not all adoptions. If you ask the leader, they must give a good reason why they can't accept your request.
