LWRT (Laotian Weekend Radio and Television) was the LLITV franchise holder for Laotian City County on the weekends, first launched in 1962 as the radio station LWR, they became LWRT in 1972 following the launch of the LLITV network. In 1989, LWRT lost the FM and TV license, but not the AM license, leading to them continuing to broadcast on AM radio. LWRT was renamed L-Wave in 1999, a name inspired by J-Wave of Tokyo.
