(General details not many people know) For most days, it’s not the person that gives you the food that made it. The kitchen crew is completely separate from the baggers, and the ones handing it out are Lobby/Curbsider-s. On slower days, If only 2 people are ever visible, it means one is doing bagging, fries, curbsides, AND orders, and the other is doing drive-thru. If someone has the time to be on their phone, this is a GOOD thing for you, because it means there’s not a lot going on, and therefore you won’t be waiting long. My store always makes cookies as the orders appear, and usually the same is true for pie. However, Pie takes 13-15 minutes to cook. If someone tells you the Icecream machine isn’t working, they’re lying. We are either out of Ice cream mix, OR they just don’t feel like making it. ————————————————————————— [Customer interaction] We as human beings do also have lives, and we do see you side-eying us while we wait for our break food. I typically like talking at customers, it passes time better and I get to have a little fun. Though I will not forget if you insult me. For example some guy was having issues with his app, and wanted to buy some fries. I was under the impression that he didn’t mind chatting since he had to wait for the fry hopper anyway, now, I was counting change out loud like I always do (just to make sure I'm adding right) and then out of nowhere he said something along the lines of "Can you shut up? I just want my fries" Which- was rude as hell because I was trying to make sure you got the correct amount of change- and before that he made no indication that he didn't want to talk. like what?? Now, getting wrong orders happens. Every now and then, especially during busy hour, someone will be missing little things or their burger will be wrong. And I don't mind fixing it. But there's a certain point where things aren't really… sensible. For example, I was working drive-thru when someone said their burger was wrong. When I asked what the issue was, they said that it "only had one pickle". Which has to be the weirdest thing I've ever heard. I did still fix it. A different time, we were rolling orders through drive-thru and someone put them in the wrong order, so I handed a bag to the wrong person. Really all they. got to do was look in the bag before I realised I was wrong and took it back. But when that person rolled up, they asked if their bag was the one I accidentally handed to the wrong person. I'm not a liar at work, so I said yeah awkwardly, and explained that none of their food was touched. they gave me a look and then said "But the fries are open, so they HAD to have been breathed on." Keep in mind that those fries were still hot- I took the "bad" fries and tossed them, closed the drive-thru window and then cursed like a sailor while dropping ANOTHER fresh basket of fries. The stupid thing about it is that they HAD to know that we, the people actually putting it all together, do in fact also have to touch the packaging of the food to put it in the bag. So either they didn't realize that the fries would have been exposed to people that aren't them, OR they just wanted to waste my time. This was the only time I had ever cussed at work. The most recent story I have is from late March 30th, where it was literally just me, the back drive girl, the kitchen manager, overnight shift manager, and some girl I'd never seen before who I assume worked mostly overnight. However, at some point after 10, we got a little flood of orders (2 dashes, a lobby order, and 3 drive thru orders) and the 2 managers were nowhere to be seen. The overnight shift girl was just standing in the drive thru window like there was nothing to do- so I had to personally assemble everything, and then the kitchen manager got sent home due to a system error, so we had EVEN LESS people. I was freaking out because I seemed to be the only one who cared. I physically couldn’t take it, so I asked to leave 15 minutes early, because otherwise I would have completely crashed out. Thank god the overnight manager was chill.
This is all speaking from experience, and I can say for certain - They really don’t get paid enough for this. standard of living here is $17 an hour. The place is bragging about $10.50
