I honestly just hate how many people need technology to help them with their daily lives. Even here in school we have to use computers to do our assignments. And even when school ends everyone grabs their phones to scroll on social media. “So, do you think we could hang out?” Said Conner as we were walking down the hall. Conner is a year older than me but he is shorter than me. He is the type of person who would rather do homework and stay inside rather then playing outside and socializing. Somehow, his short blond hair always seemed shiny like he just took a shower. I shrugged and said “I guess so. Just do not show me me of your inventions to me. We all know what happens when you show me them.” I gesture to a burnt mark on my shoulder. “But it would actually work this time.” Conner said with belief in his voice. “And…Lizzie is going to come!” “Shh” I said covering his mouth. “Why did you invite her. You know I have a crush on her and I act awkward around her.” Conner took my hand off of his mouth and said “I have her as my partner for the science fair and this is going to be our experiment.” “Ok then, see you later man.” I said walking into the classroom. A wave of sawdust filled up my nose. I really do like wood shop just for the smell of sawdust. Mr. Caddy came up to me. “So, Wane, how is your project doing?” “Crap, I am so sorry sir. I do not think I started yet.” I said my voice shaking. Mr. Caddy handed me a small slip of paper. “I will see you tomorrow Wane.” I observed the folded piece of paper. It was pink and covered in sawdust. I opened up the small slip of paper and saw the word “detention” on it. I never went to detention before and I am genuinely terrified. Mr. Caddy looked at me and said. “What are you doing? Waiting for me to hold your hand and bring you to detention? Come on, leave.” I left the room and started walking down the hall. It seemed like it stretched out forever. Then I saw a teacher walking down the hallway. I do not know why I did it but I instantly went into the bathroom to hide from the teacher. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and noticed how messed up I looked. My semi long dark brown hair was all shaggy and had a piece of food stuck in it. My black leather jacket had white smudges on it from art class and my pants looked just the same. The teacher was carrying a basket full of items that they have stolen in class. As they passed by they dropped an item. When the teacher finally was gone I picked up the item they dropped and noticed it was a game card. Not any game card it was MY GAME CARD. I have been working on my own game and when I showed Conner the card in class the teacher took it from me. I climbed into a stall and opened up my laptop. I do not want to go to detention and they do not know I am going so why go there anyway. I worked on my game some more and tried to add a female character so that girls could enjoy the game as well. The rest of the school day was a blur. Just Lunch…I got a B in my science class…did really well in debate…made a paper airplane for something….I think that is all that has happened. When I went to Conner’s house and I was about to knock on the door a car pulled in. Lizzie walked out of the car and looked at me “what are you doing here Wane?” Lizzie had brunette hair and sparkling blue eyes. She always wore the same purple hoodie and Black jeans. She is also very adventurous and brave. She pretty much was the complete opposite of Conner. “Conner wanted to show off the project you guys are making.” I lean close to her and I smell a touch of perfume. “Are you guys sure it will work though?” Lizzie shrugged “I don’t know. Conners idea for the project is pretty wild.” She knocked on the door 3 times Conner opened the door and noticed the two of us. He had a smirk on his face like he was saying “look who is socializing with the girl of his dreams.” I gave him a death glare back. “Let’s go into the basement.” Conner said. As I finally went to the bottom of the steps I saw the weirdest thing I have ever seen. It looks like Conner put a TON of wires on his virtual reality headset with some other things. Like a toy fan and sleeping pils floating in water. I finally built of the courage to ask “What the heck is that thing?” Conner said enthusiastically “Have you read Ready Player One?” I said “Yea, why do you ask?” “Well this is inspired off of its sequel, Ready Player Two!!! It is going to put me into a dream state so I can live the game!” Conner pointed to Lizzie “Lizzie, did you bring the game?” “Lizzie searched her pockets and said “I forgot to bring it…” she looked down “sorry.” I instantly remembered I have the game I made in my pocket. I pull it out and say “Will this work?” Conner grabbed it and said “Yes it will.” He put it in the computer and said “Lizzie get ready”
