audrey belle rosewood i study adelaine quietly. she's observant. too observant. she almost saw me yesterday, almost figured out my powers, if she hasn't already. which she probably has. thankfully, oliver is as oblivious as he could be, and he hasn't mentioned anything of importance to me since that morning. adelaine's also hesitant to talk much about her past and where she came from. she's reserved and usually lets me or oliver do most of the talking. well, oliver does most of the talking, anyway. "hey." I sit down next to adelaine, who watches the orange glow of the fire cast a ring of light around us. "hi," she replies. "doing okay?" "yeah," i lie. it comes easily, and adelaine seems to believe it. "what about you?" she glances over at me. "i'm fine." but her eyes say otherwise. i nod, looking out at the horizon. "what do you think we'll find when we get there?" i ask. "i mean, they are just normal people, in a normal town." she turns around sharply. "audrey, they have magical powers. we have orders to capture them." "i know," i say softly. "but what if they don't know they have it?" she seems to deflate a little. "i... i guess we'll figure it out. when we get there." "we're almost there," i say quietly the next morning. "almost to the first town." the others murmur in content agreement. we're all weary from traveling, but i don't voice my fears. if the people in the town have powers, then will they know that i have them too? a/n yeaa no idk what i was doing
