“What was kaj…?”//MYTH-ANALYSIS//-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -Hello again!, ketch here. Recently I’ve found myself in a scratch rabbit hole..and uh stumbled across its most infamous pieces of mythos.. -Scratch as a website has been around publicly since the early 200’s(2007) to now, (2025 as I’m writing). And over that time it’s almost impossible for a online community-based website to not well, have..”ghosts of place”…and or some sort of niche, but well known in that sense.. characters.Many being very simple in context. And meaning formed onto them by their communities over time, examples of this phenomenon can be found on the online community-based game, Roblox with the “smiles family” or more on topic, “John Doe” and “guest 666”..but enough abt that,..”what is Kaj..?”. -“Kaj” and or @qwert870(most recent acc). Was a user on scratch around 6/15/07, they had around 504 followers and was banned/removed around that year(main acc), but that’s just my assumption. But anyway…how does this become the big scary evil hacker person!!?…well from many second hand accounts. Apparently kaj wanted to become viral on scratch and they weren’t getting that, so they threatened and “hacked” many accounts. Eventually trying to destroy scratch as a whole…obviously this is the dramatized version we all know. What actually happened was somewhat true, as kaj did have issues with scratch and being more main stream. But The hacking never occurred, as they only threatened this on one occasion..more info stated about his apparent “hacking” is a bit more vague from what I’ve read, the most valid source is from @dragon-oath. Detailing when the scratch team (and various older scratch members) had played a trick on the community while back on April fools day, pretending to be Kaj on a moderator account. So to my knowledge..there was no real harm done. Only others dramatizing the situation and playing into it, sparking widespread calamity. And eventually, the birth of the kaj we know. -misconceptions on kaj .that Kaj is a woman(this is most likely false. But not certainty false, no source has a direct answer.) .Kaj is a hacker(no one was directly hacked BY this user, perhaps a few fakers. But not the real person.) -why is kaj..red?- Actually don’t know..it seems we just ..made em that way..early depictions display them as a evil grey scratch cat, or a black evil stick figure with hair, or even more unique as a muscular man..with a strange cat mask.
