Constantly starting and ending, the cycle of life goes on forever. Asterwish knew this. He knew it as he walked out in the dew-soaked morning. In his new clan. With his new name. With an old feeling of resentment settling in his stomach. He knew nothing, no one. He didn't belong here. His strange musings of prior weeks, on the nature of existence, still hung in the air around him, cloaking him in a coldness that made others hesitant to approach. Yet, something in the air told him that today would bring change. And then he heard it. A tiny mewl. He paused, his heart suddenly pounding. He waited. There it was again. He turned, scorching gaze picking out two tiny creatures that were nestled in the reeds. Kits. Asterwish thought back to his Flurryclan days. He loved kits. They were pure and joyous and.. emotion flooded through him. He felt an impossible need to protect these two creatures. Despite his apprehension at loving some cat, and despite his hatred of being dependent or depended on.. here he was. His heart swelled, and something clicked into place. As if this is what he'd been missing all along.
