It sensors the Y word, so BL (Boys love) it is. (WARNINGS: Some suggested racism.) Anyways time for a short story… ~ time: Early Astmei, in a hidden village within dense forest ~ Rinae, a dark-skinned elf with silver hair, was sewing with his hair tied back, putting details on a custom dress. A lost human man biked by, crashing into a tree because he couldn’t get the bike to stop in time. The human - a tan, brunette man with freckles and blue eyes, awkwardly got up, a few scrapes on his face and elbows from the fall. “Ah- sorry… I didn’t expect anyone to be out here… uhm… where is this?” Rinae paused for a second, responding without taking his eyes off of his craft; “You’re in Mirage, it’s a small town so we don’t often get a space on maps.” “Why is it named mirage?” The human clipped his bike to a tree up the hill, and then got out bandages he was carrying around. Rinae: Well, it’s based on the fact that we’re a small village in the middle of nowhere, really the only reason this works is due to the large lake near here. “Ohh, that’s clever. Ah- I’m Terry, by the way. What’s your name?” Rinae, while finishing a stitch: “It’s Rinae.” Terry smiled: I just noticed- your ears are sorta pointy. Rinae: Yes, I’m an elf. Terry: Wow, that’s so cool… Rinae: I’d assume you’re human, then? We don’t see many out here. Terry: Yeah. I used to live in the earth city, but those bridges and caves made me super nervous… Rinae, dismissively: I see. Terry, curiously watching him sew: Who’s the dress for? Rinae: One of my clients wanted a dress for the ball at the city in the sky, though I don’t make dresses for avians often, I think this one is going well… Terry: You’re incredibly skilled. I think the only productive hobby I have is biking, heh. Rinae: Is that so? You need to work on your stopping, then. Or at least get a helmet. Terry, embarrassed, nods to agree: Yeah, you’re right. I uh- don’t want to stay in the way of your work, so I think I’ll check out this little town. Rinae: Probably not a good idea, most of the elder elves don’t like humans. Terry: Why? We’re not that different. Rinae: I wouldn’t know- I don’t get it either, supposedly it’s part of some kind of superiority complex. Terry: Ah, that sucks… I uh, do need some way to fix my bike, though. It’d be hard to get home on foot… Rinae: There’s a mechanic shop at the edge of town that has one of the nicer staff, I believe. Terry: Ah, thanks, Rinae. Rinae simply nods, silent to focus on finishing the dress. ~ A few hours later ~ Terry walks back by, looking a bit tired. “I did it- the bike’s still at the repair shop, but I did get a helmet. How’s the dress going?” Rinae sighed, sewing some details on: “Still good, though from the look of things, I still have more hours to go, since they wanted small bits of faded Jadestone on the top of this.” Terry: Wow. I had no idea clothes took that long to make. How much are they paying you for it? Rinae: Well, since I do mostly commissioned works, I charge a flat rate per hour for labor, and the rest comes from the price of the materials. *He’s silent for a moment to hold the sewing needle with his mouth, then continues after adjusting the angle of the dress* I don’t stop until the dress is done, and to make sure I’m not overshooting on the hours I’ve worked, I time whenever I start or stop working on it. Terry: You’re certainly committed. Uh, do you mind if I ask your mailbox number? I’d like to be pen-pals, just in case I happen to need something fancy in the future. Rinae: Sure, my business mailbox is F-M-2570. Terry wrote it down: Alright, thank you. I’ll make sure to chat. *He went to get his bike from the repair shop, putting his new helmet on, and then walking his bike all the way back* See you again later, Rinae! *He waved, then getting on his bike to go back towards Magistree village* ~To be continued~
