The white and black cat is Starpelt, Shadowstar's sister. She was not mad because of Shadowstar and her mate, Goldenheart, it was because Shadowstar did not approve of Starpelt's and her mate, a cat from another clan's love. Goldenheart is the yellow and orange cat, and he is from the same clan as Shadowstar.

"wake up, young ones, Moonstar wants us to hunt." It was so cold, that there was only 3 or 4 prey in the prey pile, so even kits had to learn to hunt early. The kits yawned. The youngest one, a she kit, named Snowkit, groaned. "Do we HAVE to?" she meowed. Shadowtail nodded. "yes." They all padded to the bush tunnel, marking the entrance and exit of camp. Shadowtail nodded to the kits. "come." the bush tunnel swallowed her up as she crouched and padded through it. The 3 kits followed her lead. Heavy snow was falling onto the fresh bed of deep, white, snow. Shadowtail crouched down, letting her kits ride on her back while she walked through the snow. When she saw a mouse, the first one in days, she exclaimed "Mouse!" She put her kits down on a shallow spot of snow, and crouched down, focusing on the mouse. She lightly padded forward, then pounced on it. Then suddenly she heard a wail from two of her kits. She spun around, with the mouse in her mouth and noticed one of her kits collapsed in the snow. She wailed. Snowkit! NUUU
