Hello animators, today we're gonna be learning how to animate casings! Now, animating casings is simple, you know about gravity, right? Y'know, the thing that keeps us from flying out into the cold void of space? Yeah, gravity is pretty great, it's also pretty great in animation! In your animations, everything should have gravity, your characters, your props, your casings, everything! (Unless you're animating like a cool space animation where gravity isn't present, then go crazy and ignore this lol). Casings are what hold all the components of a bullet together, it holds the projectile, the gun powder, and the primer (but that goes with the casing lol). Casings are meant only to hold the bullet together until it is fired, so it is ejected from the gun after being fired. Most guns will have an ejection port where the casing flies out, you can normally find it on a gun sprite near the magwell (where the magazine goes inside). Normally, when firing a gas operated firearm, like a semiautomatic pistol for example, the casing is ejected automatically due to the gases from the explosion pushing the slide back and extracting a casing, this means that the casing comes out with a little bit of speed already, so don't ease into the speed unless it's coming out of a firearm where you need to manually eject the casing, like a double barrel. REMEMBER, EVERYTHING has gravity, and everything has different weights, some heavy, some light, but they all fall down. Also, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!! Happy animating!
