Brightpaw, paralyzed by fear, retreats to the camp, choosing not to disclose the incident to anyone, worried that they would dismiss her account. Meanwhile, Swiftpaw infiltrates ThunderClan's camp, initiating an infection among the cats. Brightpaw, overwhelmed by horror and guilt, witnesses the chaos unfold as she escapes the camp with surprising help of infected cloudtail, who partners with her.
