It moves to different places depending on the season. In the summer, it lives in places like Alberta and North Carolina, and in the winter, it moves to places like Mexico. Male goldfinches are bright yellow in the summer to help attract a mate, but they turn a dull olive color in the winter. Female goldfinches are usually a brownish yellow, and they get a little brighter in the summer. Goldfinches like to eat seeds, and they have special beaks to help them pick seeds from plants. They also have strong feet to hold onto the plants while they eat. These birds like to be with other goldfinches and often gather in large groups, especially when they are feeding or migrating. Goldfinches build their nests late in the summer, when there is a lot of food.
