From Sky's perspective: All he remembered from the inside was the warmth being sucked away and scales burning against him. He was hot and cold at the same time, desperately clawing at the shell that encased him. He heard a sharp rap that vibrated his body, and suddenly he was upside down and getting shaken around. Voices from outside his cocoon echoed in his pale ears, and although he could not understand it, the words still reached him. "I swear to the moons, Kestrel, that egg is bound to have more dragonets than you can handle. Just look at the size. Give me one, and you can keep the other." "There's no telling what you'll do to a dragonet!" a different voice snapped. "I intend to be a better mother than you ever could." A cold silence filled the air. "Ah, it's hatching now," said the crueler-sounding voice. "Give me a dragonet, and I won't kill you." Suddenly, he was encased in a cold breeze, blinking and trying to scramble from the remainder of the enormous egg shell. There was a gasp from the smaller dragon. "Fire scales," she breathed unbelievingly. "Kestrel, I'll give you one more chance. Give me a dragonet, and no one gets hurt." The big dragon covered in dark red jewels flared her wings at the other dragon, with a look that could burn through trees. "No," said the small dragon, looking up defiantly. More silence. Wind whistled through the fog. "Fine, then," the shiny dragon sneered. "My final offer before I kill you and your dragonets is simple: "Kill one and give me the other. Think carefully." The small dragon quivered under the large one's gaze, and saw her shiny teeth and dark red claws. "All right, Scarlet," she said exsasperatedly. The jewel-decorated dragon watched happily as the other reached down for him. "This is the one I'm keeping." "WHAT?" the big one spat. "Kestrel, that is an awful mistake!" The one that had been called "Kestel" several times looked disdainfully at the big dragon, and without a word, turned to the burning red dragonet and kicked her off the cliff. Then she grabbed him and took off, high into the sky, the other dragon screaming "You idiot! You killed the one with firescales! I could've made her my champion! I could've made her my weapon! And you promised me the other one!" Her screams faded into the fog as Kestrel flapped further into the night, clutching him as they soared into the moonlight. "I think I'll call you Ember," she said softly. *** After this, Ember lived a happy life with Kestrel, she never had to watch over the dragonets of destiny, and she was never found by Scarlet. Since Scarlet never got to keep Peril, she never had an arena champion, and Clay never found out he had firescales. This also makes the events of Escaping Peril not exist, therefore Darkstalker never came back. There are plenty other ripple effects but I don't want to list them all day.
From Wren's perspective: It's just a rabbit, she told herself. It's definitely not a dragon. It was a dragon. But not just any dragon-it looked mostly like a Mountain dragon, but its scales sizzled and smoked and the ground around it was black and charred. "What in the-" Wren was cut off by a snarl that shattered the treetops. The dragon was struggling to get out of a bush, so Wren carefully circled it, keeping her distance. A painful cry came from the dragon, and Wren said crossly, "I'm not going to help you. Dragons are mindless beasts...though I guess they are better than people." She tilted her head. "If I help you, you have to promise you won't bite me." She climbed over a tree stump toward the bush, and was about to reach out when the bush dissinegrated into gray ashes. Wren screamed. The dragon poked a tree with its claw, and the tree burst into flames. It looked confused and excited at the same time, staring wonderingly at its burning claws. That dragon could kill someone just by touchning then with the tip of its claws, Wren thought, horrified. She stood up and bolted out of the forest, far away from that fire monster. *** After this, Peril (if that was her name) died eventually since she did not understand anything. Wren never understood dragons so the Dragonslayer ruled forever, and Leaf never found Wren. Wren learned to live on her own and never returned to her city, and she never met Undauntable. There's probably more stuff that didn't happen, If you think of something say it in the comments below.
