Getting into an animal-like position, she falls uneasily to sleep. She wakes up in the woods, surrounded by trees and eyes that blink at her through the thicket. No…not this dream again. She thinks, beginning to run around, paws flailing as she slips on rocks. She falls to the ground with a thud, and a human smiles down at her. “Hello, little fox.” Ivory wakes with a start, heart pounding. Suddenly, her alarm clock makes an awful sound and she wants to rip it into a billion pieces with her claws. But…she doesn’t have them. She raises a hand to turn the alarm off, but it doesn’t look like her hand. It looks like a paw. She looks down. She’s a fox!! How?! Wait. This is a Perceptionshift, isn’t it? Shaking her head, she gets dressed and puts on her tail without thinking about it. She walks into the kitchen, beginning to eat the waffles her mom had prepared for her when- “Ha! Ivory! You’re wearing a tail! Are you a furry!?” Jake scoffs. “No! I just…I like tails, okay?” She says, moving it out of his view. “Jake, don’t tease your sister.” Her mom says. “It’s time for school.” School? Great. A chance to get bullied. Halfheartedly, she grabs her backpack and walks to school. Hopefully, no one will be mean. But that’s wishful thinking, isn’t it?
