Make Some Noise Project for CCOW. A very powerful image on any screen is the child's name. Students can write their first name on a sticky note in any style that they would like. After scanning or taking a photo of the names, help students create a sprite of their name in Scratch. Demonstrate to the whole class how we can have all of the sprites moving randomly around the screen. The fun thing about these sprites is that they can MAKE SOME NOISE!!! Invite each child up during their exploration time to create a noise for their sprite or if possible, share the project file with each of your students so that they can experiment with changing the sounds, effects and size so that each is a unique part of the whole class. Explain that there are many ways to be unique. Maybe the name will rotate, change color and then change back again, flip around the screen or even call out its name! Students will enjoy remixing this because their names are a very important part of their identity. If there are permission issues, you can have them use initials/ Variation: Spelling words, vocabulary words, or photographs can be used instead of students names.
