Oceanodyssey was so sick of traveling with the group. She didn't want to tread alongside urchinclan cats, the very clan that had left her family to rot. Nor did she want be be traveling with flurryclan- not after their leader had snarled in her face, refusing to hear her out. Alone time. That's all it was. Gem wanted to get away. She was sure there had to be something out here- a single clue that the group of cats had been around. Something about the area just felt right. The sounds of talking quickly vanished from the young warrior's ears as she left the group further and further behind. A jagged thunderpath ran ahead of her, cutting them off from any further exploration. There was a cave entrance not far from the path. Oceanodyssey's eyes fixed on the tunnel, and she took a few steps towards it. If she could find a way across the foul-smelling path by herself- help the group move forward- would she finally be able to prove her worth- not just to the three clans, but to herself? The promise of glory beckoning, Oceanodyssey darted into the tunnels. --> The caverns were much vaster than she had bargained for. Dripping water echoed in her ears, the only thing saving her from the suffocating emptiness. It was clear nothing had been down here in a long, long while. She had a mission. Get to the other side. Gem could hear monsters rumbling above her- a sure sign of her progress. She just needed to go deeper. A little bit deeper. Another rumble. This one from closer. Oceanodyssey barely had a moment to register what was going on before the ground collapsed underneath her, a torrent of rubble and mud. She let out a yowl, the sound lost in the roar of monsters and rocks. --> Three sun-cycles passed. In the caves, it felt like one endless eternity. Ocean dropped in and out of sleep, taking every moment to try desperately to find a way out. It wasn't working. She couldn't even hear the thunder-path's vibrations anymore. Oceanodyssey was going to die in this cave. Alone. Ironic, wasn't it? Something she had spent her whole life trying to be. Torn from her family, estranged from her clan. Living life as a loner, driven by a primal desire for revenge against the cats who had ruined her life. A pawful of days in flurryclan camp; surprised by the compassion of their cats. Wondering if she had finally found a home. A mistake. One she would never be allowed to atone for. Suddenly flurryclan was just another notch on her list of enemies. Mossclan had been a breath of fresh air. Friends. Kits. A purpose again, something to care for and love. Why had she been foolish as to leave the only place gem had ever truly called home? --> The young warrior cracked open an eye, coughing up the dusty cave air from her lungs. Gem had long since given up hope of escape. No one cared enough to come and find her. Every cat that did was buried deep beneath the earth. Perhaps if she believed in starclan; she'd be happy at the chance to see them again. But when everything is taken from you over and over; faith is hard to come by. There was some moss growing by the edge of the cave. Oceanodyssey didn't think moss could grow underground. It needed light- just as cats needed prey. Maybe... Gem pulled herself to her paws, peering closely at the cave wall. Sure enough, a glimmer of light shone through a crack in the mud. Filled with newfound energy, Oceanodyssey threw herself at the wall, digging as quickly as she could. Pulling herself out of the darkness, trying not to sob with relief when she spotted familiar rocks, smelt the overwhelming scent of safety and home. Gem took one last look at the caves, so determined to be the catalyst of her final breaths. She was free. Oceanodyssey had cheated death. ---- TLDR; Oceanodyssey got lost in a cave while exploring and almost died!! However, thanks to the wonderful @Jay_0nPaws 's revive power, she is thankfully ok!! Thank you brooknose forever and always today was SUCH a roller coaster lol. Eyes on the thumbnail belong to them!! ✦ . 　⁺ "I'll stand on the edge, where the righteous are few" ✦ . 　⁺ RESULTS: -> Ocean has developed a slight fear of leaving mossclan territory, believing mossclan is the only one that genuinely cares and will keep her safe -> Ocean's trust for other clans has gone down- she thinks they are at fault for the unsuccessful mission and for not looking for her. -> Ocean's back right foot has a new scar- i'll draw her a new reference with it soon ✦ . 　⁺ "-I'll see justice through." ✦ . 　⁺
