A dinosaur must earn its rank among the apexes. A hatzegopteryx soars above the prehistoric world of Gondwa, searching for prey. Her body is covered with scars, each one a memory of a legendary battle. In this story, we will learn how she rose to the world of giants. A story wouldn't be right if we didn't start at the very beginning... An egg trembles in the shadows of the towering cliffs in Sharp tooth Marsh. After some struggling, a hategopteryx takes its first steps. Her name is Westhunter, she will someday grow to a giant. But for now, she must be a humble juvenile. In her early days, Westhunter flies, exploring and catching critters. She is too weak to hunt many things for now. For now, she is merciful around her fellow small dinosaurs and pterosaurs, but one day they will be her next meal. Westhunter's first days are a repeating cycle, eat, sleep, fly, and drink. She watched many dinosaurs around her and only saw one adult Concavenator. As she flew over Snake Gully, she noticed a Stegosaurus, a small one. A stegosaurus is a plant eater, and this one was small, probably a juvenile or a small Adolescent. She made a friendly gurgle as she flew over it. However, when Westhunter landed and was hunting for small animals to eat, the same stegosaurus returned, and not peacefully. It swung its spiky tail at Westhunter! It was fast and had a strange hitbox, Westhunter landed a few solid bites but was then forced to retreat or risk death. The stegosaurus had fought well, Westhunter just didn't understand; it was an herbivore, it shouldn't be attacking carnivores. There was one motive, getting a trophy (refer to dictionary for more info), and Westhunter did look like an adult: a dark brown color with black and sandy accents, but she still had the faint spots of her juvenile camouflage skin. Westhunter hunted a few critters and slunk away to heal. It was a new day. Westhunter had assisted a Latenivenatrix with hunting a small lizard, Westhunter's first little ally. They crossed paths several times throughout a couple days. The latenivenatrix fared well, and eventually journeyed onwards. It was another day, another in this Hatzegopteryx life. Westhunter was dozing on a high cliff, so high that you could see most of Snake Gully from it. Westhunter's stomach was beginning to rumble, and she was resting for her next flight. Suddenly, she saw movement: A deinonychus, its fleeting shadow trailing after it. It was above the river, running away from the bank, but next to some trees. For a moment, her view was blocked, but there it was again, its tail swishing gracefully. It was dangerous, but Westhunter never killed anything before besides mediocre small critters. They weren't even other players! Westhunter weighed her odds. If she tired while fighting the raptor, she could be in a bit of trouble. However, she could finally get a worthy meal, and her first hunt. She jumped from the cliff and swiftly opened her wings. She pumped her arms hard, propelling herself forward as fast as she could go. She scanned the ground ahead, and there was her prey, sitting on a rock above a small waterfall. The deinonychus was brown with some black spots and a white belly, she could already see it. But it didn't get up, nor did it didn't even look at her. Her wings were loud, loud enough for the raptor to hear them, but he just didn't turn! Finally, Westhunter closed the gap, and landed a flail ability (refer to dictionary) on the raptor! She quickly landed, as the deinonychus was already getting up. With 2 swiftly delivered pecks, it was over: The once cunning and agile deinonychus was no more, its body laying scarred up on the ground. It only had time to get up, it couldn't even run away from Westhunter. She lived up to her name, she was going West when she killed that raptor! As she ate her fill, she noticed: A trophy! She grabbed it and couldn't believe her eyes! This was permadeath, one player lost everything, and now she held all that was left of that mighty beast. She flew to her homecave and delivered it. She already felt bigger, stronger, faster. Westhunter became a Sub-Adult. She roared, a celebration of her victory against the raptor. She was soon going to grow into an apex herself, and Snake Gully was her loyal home.

This is an unusual project for me I know :3 I have been playing Path of Titans (if you don't play it I really recommend checking it out!) on the new Permadeath mode and here is my story so far! I will release the full thing once more stuff happens (logging off for the day) Also, this is based off real events in the game, this isn't a made-up scenario. Dictionary Hatzegopteryx: A large flying reptile, if played well, it can even defeat a T-Rex in Path of Titans! Concavenator: a medium-sized, fast, 2-legged carnivore with a small sail on its back and deadly claws. Adolescent: Basically something that is in its teen years, the 2nd of 4 growth stages in Path of Titans. Juvenile: The weakest growth stage. This would be like an 8 year old in dinosaur years. Trophy: A trophy in Path of Titans comes from when you kill an adult, and if delivered to your homecave (a safe cave to log out or hang out in) it can give you some in-game currency as well as faster growing if you aren't adult yet. Deinonychus: a small, agile, and intelligent dinosaur, a formidable threat for younger hatzegopteryx, and if played well, can take down an adult hatzegopteryx. Flail: An aerial attack for Hatzegopteryx in the game. The Hatzegopteryx waves its wings and dips up and down, doing damage to anything below it. This attack can also cause collision damage to Hatzegopteryx if it bumps against the other player too harshly.
