Instructions

These are the different assets I have for Blast so far. Everything was used in the Blast scratch demo, but I have updated K0L's sprite to be more consistent with the rest of the assets. K0L-17: I'm happy with K0L's design at the moment, but it may end up becoming a placeholder if the art takes on another visual identity. For now it looks good, though I might edit it further, and make his colors lighter and more vibrant. Part of those changes were recoloring the guns he can have equipped. For now those are just placeholders, and I do plan on adding more guns in the future with different visuals. Most likely, these will end up being the default weapons. Anyone who's played the demo might notice that the shotgun is absent in the short game. That's because I couldn't find time on adding a primary. One of the major game mechanics I plan on adding is for the player to have a primary weapon, a powerful device that has limited ammunition, and a sidearm, a less powerful weapon that has infinite or near infinite ammunition. This never made it into the completed demo, although animation for the weapon is present if you can figure out how to activate it. The sidearm is also planned to be able to overcharge and turn into a throwable grenade, although I might simply have that as an option for both primaries and sidearms. The primary weapons won't usually have the capability or ability to recharge when they are used up, so having them turn into bombs would be a viable option. I'm planning on adding a variety of primaries, sidearms, and melees to the game. I won't get into the details here, but I want the player to have a wide variety of weapons to choose from in the final product. Barrel: It's always fun to have some kind of explosive hazard that can be a danger or asset to the player. I might remake or edit the model, but I definitely plan on using explosive barrels in the game going forward. Circuit board: I don't think I'm going to use these at all, as I only made them to fulfill the role of "objective" that the demo was required to have (as per my assignment). But it's certainly not out of the question that the player will encounter a giant circuit board at some point in the game... Gun Box: I'm definitely going to redesign this multiple times, but I do want the player to be able to find guns lying around in the game, some of them exposed and some of them in boxes like this. Tank: the game assignment that I made the Blast scratch demo for required me to have an enemy. I decided that a rigid robot with a simple animation would be the best option, since I didn't want it to be lifeless, but I also didn't want to spend another three days making a unique animation for it. This most certainly will be an enemy in the game, but will also likely undergo a redesign, and may become a different type of enemy going forward. Maybe a flamethrower enemy of some kind? Any who have played the demo may notice that there are still several assets I haven't mentioned. However, I don't plan on mentioning them because I don't plan on using them. While they served their purpose in the demo, I don't want to use them in the final game. The pixel art I made that I'm not showing here was low effort and rushed, and I don't plan on using it. The reason I'm not showing any of the audio assets from the demo is because all of them were from other sources. While they might be in the public domain, I want to use entirely original assets, with perhaps a few exceptions (namely references or assets that are used commonly in games and media, but with specific intent and likely for comedic effect). While I do plan on making some of the assets for the game myself, I am wildly inexperienced with graphic design, let alone pixel art, and I might ask someone else for help. If I end up working with someone else, these sprites may end up getting redesigned, or completely changed. However, for now, these costumes are what I will try to use in the official game, or whatever I end up making in the future. All assets displayed in this project were entirely created by me.
