Eclipse looked around. Where to go first...? Freedom was in his grasp, and he needed to ditch the eye as soon as he could. "Hey, Death's Eye! Wanna see something cool?" Eclipse smiled mischievously and ran over to a large rock. Death's Eye quickly followed, blocking him from jumping on it. "Aw, not fun." He frowned and when around to the other side. A lone sterf, as Black Death had called them, was eating some feed nearby. Sterfs were cow-like animals with pronged horns and fluffy bodies. Eclipse brightened when he saw Nova in a bush next to the sterf. He looked like was hunting. Nova crept up to the prey quietly, then pounced. The sterf wasn't expecting the attack and started bucking. "Nova!" Eclipse ran over. "Hang on!" He looked around, trying to find help. His eyes landed on Death's Eye. "Help! Please!" Just then, Nova was flung off the sterf, where he was cut in the eye with one of its pronged horns, making two scratches. He landed near the large rock where Eclipse was, who quickly came to his side. "Nova? Nova, please! Get up!" The hurt Darkling opened his un-injured eye and shuffled to sit up. "Ow... what happened?" He looked around. "Oh right... Hunting..." He grumbled and looked over at Eclipse. "You... uh... won't say anything to my dad, right?" Death's Eye gave a disapproving stair. "All right, all right. I'll tell my dad..." Nova looked at Eclipse and rolled his eyes. "I mean... MOST of the story... heh..." Eclipse giggled but looked at Nova's left eye with concern. "You should get that looked at." "You're probably right..." Nova glanced at Death's Eye. "Can you go get my dad?" Death's Eye set its gaze on Eclipse. "I won't do anything naughty, don't worry." Eclipse crossed his arms. Death's Eye didn't look so sure but hurried away. Eclipse sighed with relief. "I thought he would never leave." Nova laughed. "Master can be very protecting sometimes. A good thing, but it can also be really annoying. After he lost Black Doom... everything changed. Or at least that's what my dad says. I was too young to remember." "Who was Black Doom?" Eclipse sat down. "The most powerful Black Arms leader to date. His father before him, Black Sun, was pretty strict according to my dad. He never actually met him, but the people who did always stood by Black Doom instead. Apparently, Black Sun died in a crash into an asteroid belt, leaving Black Doom in charge at a young age." Nova sat back, thinking. "Woah... So... how are Master and Black Doom connected? They knew each other?" Nova shuffled. "I really shouldn't say... and besides, Master can guard his memories pretty well. Even I don't know the whole story... But... if you promise to never let him know that I told you about it--" "I promise." Eclipse held out his hand and Nova took it. "Ok... They knew each other, yes. They grew up together. Black Doom was the brother Master had always wanted. The secret is... Black Death was never royal blood. He grew up as a low-class Darkling, with his father being a book maker. The young Black Doom took a liking to him ever since they met. They spent all the time they could together. Black Doom would always seem to get them into trouble, but because he was so important to the future of the Black Arms, he always paid for it the most. Black Death didn't know what happened to him, but one day he just... broke. His father must have been really awful if Doom gave up the carefree part of him. Black Death knew he was still in there somewhere, but...." "The damage had been done..." Eclipse said, in full concentration. "Right. When Black Sun died, Black Doom adopted Black Death into the royal family, and didn't take no as an answer. They co-ruled together over a united alien kingdom until..." "That's enough!!" Black Death came in like a storm, and he didn't look happy.
