I just had an idea for a game I'm making!!! I'm making it in Godot, and hope to put it on Steam eventually. BUT That's not the big news. I had an idea for a new direction I might want to go in terms of play and mechanics. Basically it's going to be a big, MMOFPS (Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter), which means lots of players at once basically doing Call Of Duty, where the social structure of the game would take a more sandbox approach. What that means is I want players to be able to, for the most part, do whatever, wherever, whenever, and with whoever, they want. To make it socially free, however, I also have to make it open-world, and some other things. What I'm thinking is that the main idea is that you can start and run your own factions. There are a few things I've been thinking on. I think I'm going to add some kind of Procedural Generation. Probably multiple types. The main place would be cities, but other places would also exist. The idea I just had, however, would be my biggest addition. Servers would be designed to run for a long time, upwards of years, and be designed to hold many, MANY players, not just a small select few, like Minecraft SMP's. Meaning, if you want 1000 players, that shouldn't be an outlier, that should be a norm. Along with that, I thought of a NEW idea. This is a bit smaller, but still good. I want to add some way to advertise your factions and other things in game. I wondered: How would I do that with my want to add as little HUD and UI as possible? Than it hit me. Posters. I am going to make it so that players can design, print, and hang up their own posters. Than I don't have to worry about inappropriate posters either, because I can make it so that people can just TEAR DOWN YOUR POSTERS IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT! AND that means there's more reasons to get mad at people! Another thing I want to have is to make things in the cities more... peaceful. One of the games I'm basing this off of is called Criminality, which is in Roblox, and is kinda a MMOFPS, just- idk- It's less open than I want, and factions can't be made officials in the game, which is another feature I want. The problem with Criminality is that nowhere is safe, ever. You always have to be worried you'll get into a fight, and I don't want that. I want some places to be able to feel safe. So I'll try to make that something. As to how development is going, I'm following a tutorial by Stayathomedev and it's going well, only issue is some bug that makes going in one direction is slower- I have no clue, I'll worry about it later. Anyway, I have some plans on what to do outside of this, I might post another update later, but yeah, there you go!
