PROLOGUE I know that I am going to die. I face them on the deserted wasteland, blood dripping down my face, my hair soaked in it. My sword rests in my hand, its silver blade tainted with black blood. I raised it slowly, pointing the tip of the blade towards my opponent. “This,” I declared, my voice echoing across the wasteland. “Is where you die.” They just laughed cruelly and said something back that sent shivers down my spine. ‘How could he?’ I thought. ‘How can someone be this cruel, this unforgiving?’ I closed my eyes, and let my rage fuel me, to be the source of my adrenaline, to be the source of my power. Then I opened them again, completely calm. I knew what I had to do. I bent my knees and crouched down, and... I shot towards them with a burst of speed. Green light streaked from behind me, and my eyes glowed with green, unyielding power. They laughed again, then shot towards me at the same pace. We raced at each other, moving faster than ever before, faster than anyone would have ever thought possible. My sword glowed as I filled it with power and energy. I noticed their weapons filling up with black energy. Their ragged cloak fluttered behind them, and they grinned, a white, toothy grin, that seemed to pulse withe evil and delight as they approached. We both leaped at the same time, each of us swinging our respective weapons with all our might. I had to win this. That fate of the entire universe depended on it. Our weapons collided with a sonic boom powerful enough to destroy entire planets, our energy fueling into each other until... The last thing I ever saw in my life was his blood red eyes.
In the description is a prologue to a book I'm writing, and I want to know what you think and if you would read it! Feedback, either good or bad is also very much welcome! P.S for those interested, this prologue is actually a flash forward to the end of the book series, whereas Chapter 1 of this book happens 14 years before the events of the prologue.
