Why did he have to go? So what if there were short a skywing? And anyway, why was it the icewing’s business?! At least Falcon was with him. Maybe they would be in the same winglet…no. That wasn’t how it worked. Was it? They landed in the entrance, and Hawk immediately felt a sense of dread. There were other tribes everywhere, and they were all…hanging out?! That wasn’t right. A nightwing, Fatespeaker, if Hawk was correct, walked up. “Ah.” She says, flipping through a clipboard. “Hawk, right?” He nodded curtly, turning to Falcon. “And this is-“ Sorry.” Falcon cut him off. “I’m not staying. Queen Valley said I was to accompany you, nothing more.” His gaze softened. “You’ll be okay, I promise.” He turned, going to the edge of the cliff. He gazed back, and then flew away. Hawk watched him, trying to hold back tears. Three moons! What was going on with him? He was a guard, and he should act like it. He looked back at Fatespeaker, who was looking at him sadly. “I’m sorry.” She says softly, leading him into the cave with her wing. “But you’ll make friends. Your clawmate is kind. I hope he’ll be nice to you.” Hawk nodded, shaking his head, attempting to clear away his tears, forcing himself to not look back. “Where is he?” “There.” She pointed to a blue-and-teal seawing who was sitting near a light brown mudwing. “He’s called Seaweed.” Hawk took a deep breath, and approached the dragon. He noticed him, and smiled. “Hey! Hawk, right?! Im Seaweed!” He held out a talon. Hawk stared at it. What was he doing? “Uh…Hi?” Seaweed looked for a moment. “Don’t you know what a talonshake is?” “Talonshake? Guards don’t do anything like that.” “You’re a guard?” Seaweed’s eyes widened. “Woah! I do have a question.” Hawk sat down. “What?” “Were you…were you one of the ones who bombed the summer palace?” The summer palace. Of course. Hawk should’ve expected that.He was, but he was not about to tell this seawing that. “…No?” “Good.” He sighed. “I was scared there. Anyway, you never told me your name.” “Hawk. I’m Hawk.” “Oh! You need to meet the winglet!” He pointed to a light blue Icewing. “That’s Frostbite. They have Frost-scales. It’s like fire-scales, but ice! They’re super nice! And this is Daisy.” The mudwing smiled. “Hi.” He pointed to a dust-colored sandwing.“And that’s Scorpion. She is kinda scary. Don’t tell her I said that. Oh! And that’s Passionfruit. The nicest dragon ever! Really sleepy though.” Hawk followed his gaze to a maroon and green rainwing. “And finally…Stargazer!” He pointed to a blue-and-black nightwing reading a scroll. “She can see the future! And now…let’s go to the sleeping caves!” He ran off, and Hawk struggled to keep up. He followed Seaweed to a bedded room. “Here we are!” He panted. “I’m going to bed.” He walked over and collapsed into bed, immediately falling asleep. Hawk chuckled, climbing into his own bed. ‘I think I’m going to like it here.’ He thought, drifting to sleep.
