Part of the High Guard's clone assassin project. Only he and Twincast survived it though, and ended up being paired with Goldbug who was thought to also be a clone but it eventually turns out Goldfire was actually Bumblebee and Nemesis Prime murders Goldfire in front of Optimus. Nemesis ended up regaining some of Nova Prime's memories and modified himself before joining the Ascenticons as a spy for the High Guard.
