He proved himself through working hard to keep the clan safge and up on its feet. The clan may not return the favor, but he keeps going because those he cares for live there. It holds itself to the highest standards possible, counting on himself to do everything and be the best it can be. He cannot fail. When he says he'll do something, he keeps his word. They always keep it. If they can't do anything about breaking the promise, they still feel like they let someone, or everyone, down. He doesn't show emotions though, at least not easily.
