D-16 was soon able to convince his friend and other miners in his section to rise up and rebel which resulted in the rest of the miners, including, K-55, to be killed. D-16 saw this and was enraged and killed the two guards in charge of overseeing his section of the mines. After this he was approached by a mysterious bot who only referred to himself as "The Recruiter" and was offered to become a gladiator after seeing how D-16 killed two guards by himself.
