Though sometimes a Failed Star had a gift ready to be given to them, but were unlucky enough to be a Failed Star, this means that their appearance is slightly different, whether it be looking slightly like a seed, or being splattered with paint. They still do not have a gift though, but they might have a slight talent for what their gift would've been. Examples: Plants -> They can talk to plants, but that's it.
