Story contains some talk of murders. Mintcreek (Minty) was a Riverclan cat, known for his optimism and sociability. He was never particularly strong, so for a long time in his apprenticeship and early warriorhood, he consistently lost battles, and began seeing himself as weak. He loved his clan dearly and hated the thought that he was holding them back. But then he realized that all cats hold back a little in fights. There are lines they all won’t cross, even the most violent of Skyclan cats. He could win, he realized, if he was willing to do what others weren’t. At first his clan thought his rising murder count was an accident of him just not knowing his strength, but eventually it became pretty clear that yeah no he’s definitely doing this on purpose. Skyclan, seeing him as a threat, sent a patrol to end him. Since he no longer had the advantage of being more ruthless with these determined vigilantes, he was easily defeated, still being naturally weaker than most cats. Murder to win battles is definitely against the warrior code, so upon his death, he was sent to the dark forest, where he soon met Sunnyskies, a cat who had been there so long they had forgotten their original crime. The two became fast friends, and soon something more. Minty gave Sunny optimism to hope for a day where they could escape the suffering of the dark forest, and Sunny gave Minty understanding and companionship on a level he’d never had in life. The two have been in the dark forest for hundreds of moons now, both their stories all but forgotten by the living. “Every day it gets closer,” Sunny told Minty, although they could no longer remember what “it” was. “Only a bit longer. This isn’t forever. We just need to be patient.” Art: - Them chilling in their home of the dark forest. - Whoa colors - While designing Minty, I kept thinking of Lakestorm from @VenusWolfeMF’s comic Story of a Storm (first chapter here if you haven’t read it yet: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/600901185 ). They both do bad things, but not out of a desire to be evil. They see murder as simply an easy solution to their problems. So I had to draw them having a chitchat. Lakestorm does not belong to me and will not appear in EA lol. This is a non canon illustration. Fun fact: Sunny and Minty have been designed since 2022, before I even planned to actually make EA.
