I ENCOURAGE YOU GUYS TO READ ALL OF THIS!! (if you are too lazy there is a tl;dr at the bottom) ________________________________ I am sure that a lot of you are aware of the stealing that has been going on in the AMV community I would like to point out some things that we can all do as a community to improve things ------------------------------------------------------ 1. I'm not going to call out anyone, but stealing has been happening recently. Sure, it happens naturally, we can't stop everyone, but bringing it up right now is a good idea. First of all, Inspiration is not stealing. Taking inspiration from your favorite works of art can be a great way to find ideas and improve. Personally, I'm flattered when people take inspiration from me, as it shows me that people enjoy what I make. All of this is fine IF YOU GIVE CREDIT! Deliberately copying and claiming someone else's work as their own is where it crosses the line. It can really hurt to see your own work taken by someone for their own gain. I will admit, I have stolen code and animation ideas before, and I know that it is wrong now. Know that inspo is not wrong! Just make sure to give credit when its due! ------------------------------------------------------ 2. Don't attack people who steal Bullying people is never the right answer, there are better ways to teach and learn from mistakes. Attacking someone will make the situation even worse and the victim will just want to quit. Instead, we can point out their mistakes and tell them that stealing is wrong. ------------------------------------------------------ Please take this for the future and lets be a good community! HH TL;DR -Stealing is wrong, leave credit when necessary, making your own work is more rewarding! -Don't attack people who are stealing, politely point out what they can do better!
