The major world powers are already racing to develop advanced spacecraft capable of sending thousands of colonists, as well as other essential resources to kickstart colonies in planets and moons across the solar system. However, on earth, tensions between nations, which have been building up for decades, are about to ignite. In the Middle East, the Arab world lies decimated as Israeli warmongering have nearly destroyed the military of Iraq, Syria, and Iran. Meanwhile, in Africa, the United African Front remains the last bastion of democracy in Africa, as empires and rogue states rise from the African conquests merely a decade ago. In Oceania, Australia, New Zealand and the surrounding island nations have united to form the State of Oceania, a stout ally of the United States, and one of the strongest powers in Asia to stand against the Eurasian Defence Organisation. In South East Asia, the region has remained one of the most peaceful regions in the past few decades, with ties between the nations in the region quite strong, and their economies one of the largest and most prosperous on recent times. The EU, originally a economic alliance, turned into a military one as well once NATO collapsed. Together, they have remained relatively stable, with the only major geopolitical changes being that Ireland has regained Northern Ireland, and Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia have united to form Illyria. However, the global climate, after yet another century of pollution and overpopulation more drastic then ever, has taken a turn for the worse, with disasters and natural events becoming unpredictable and more common. Several nations have already taken to building domed cities to keep out the extremely polluted air, while forests across the world have almost all been cut down, as attention to climate change were mostly disregarded when a series of wars broke out in the late 21st century, with the recovery period shortly following it dealing even more damage to the environment. The temperature has increased by nearly 2 degrees, with the arctic and Antarctic ice caps melting at a faster rate, flooding many low lying islands. A mass extinction is well underway, as thousands of species are wiped out every year due to climate deterioration. A new world would soon be needed, or humanity would doom itself to extinction.
