came up with this idea this morning and proceeded to make this complicated remix chain idea maybe incomplete - per remix, make one and only one word building orthogonally from... - first remix: another player's word - next remixes: your other words - attacking works orthogonally by cutting another player's word - first remix word-building does not count as an attack - full points are earned, simply the first letter does not belong to the new remixer but the rest do - unless the word cuts through another word; in that case, it is an attack - full points are earned for the attacker but double the letter value is deducted from the attacked, regardless of bonus tiles (attacker may also collect bonus) - but if a letter value bonus is taken away, triple letter value deducted for double space taken, or 4x letter value deducted for triple space - if a word value bonus is taken away, the entire word value is recalculated with the new total word value multiplier and then double the letter value(s) taken away from the attacked (deductions multiplied if necessary) - but if attacking is along the direction of the word... - full points for attacker + 1 pt - letter values are deducted from attacked, and also 1 pt per letter - rounding applies for both attacker and attacked - words are formed up-down or left-right - no diagonals, no down-up, no right-left - all words must fit within the board - all taken tiles must be filled with... - the exact color of the player's choice - the letter of the tile (e.g. GRID takes 4 tiles and they are all the same color) - letters should be legible (big enough, white if dark color, black if light color...) - the player shall be matched with their color in the vector Key sprite - the Grid sprite shall be in bitmap at all times - the Grid shall periodically be backed up in the Backup sprite - save as a bitmap costume, labeled with remix number e.g. "125" - tiles are outlined... - black, regular point weighting - green: double letter value - blue: triple letter value - silver: double word value - gold: triple word value - letter bonuses stack but stacked word values... - gold adds x2, silver adds x1 to the higher base - e.g. 2 silver is x3, silver+gold is x4, 3 silver is x4... - letter bonuses are applied before the word value multiplier - word must not already be on the board - word must be allowed on scratch and also a real word that can be found in a common dictionary - maximum 8 characters - or skip a turn but add a Charge to increase the limit next time by 6 chars - up to 3 Charges at a time - all Charges must be used at once to increase the character limit accordingly, e.g. 3 Charges makes the char limit 8+6*3 = 26 chars - all characters are in uppercase - words normally used in uppercase and names are not allowed, such as most acronyms and abbreivations (NASA not allowed) (laser allowed) (names that are also words are allowed, e.g. Trinity) - point values are... - 1: AEILNORSTU - 1.5: DG (2 for the last letter in the category if odd number) - e.g. D and G is 2, DD, DG, GG is 3, dgD, gdD, ggD, etc. is 5... - altho no lowercase in game, lowercase just means lower weight compared to the +0.5 rounding bonus for some letters - 2: BCMP - 3: FHVWYK - 4: JX - 5: QZ - all dialects of english are accepted as long as a common dictionary accepts it - some rules would be borrowed from gridcloses, such as the fast-paced remix claiming, no deleting crucial sprites, no adding unnecessary or unhelpful sprites, costumes... feel free to explore by seeing inside
