Timeline: [1887] Fernsville is founded, it's located in Paulis County and is around 12 miles east of Paulis, the county seat. It's situated right next to the Paulis River. [1895] The Paulis County Electric Railway (PCER) builds it's mainline east from Paulis and into Fernsville, the line continues northeast to it's terminus in Wallace Town. [1899] Terrace park is created as a celebration for the new century. [1900] The town has around 600 residents and the PCER builds a small two track yard and freight depot, due to this Horace Avenue is cut back and rerouted to go south. [1911] The Pacific Produce Packing Company (P3CO) opens a warehouse on Robinson Avenue on a former orchard. A new railroad spur is constructed and Center street has a minor realignment. [1915] Due to this new warehouse, the town has a minor boom in population and a few more dozen houses are built. The population now is around 800 [1924] Nelson Ceramics opens up a factory next to P3CO on Center Street. [1930] Due to the Great Depression, the town stagnates. [1935] Nelson Ceramics merges with Colt, another ceramics company based in Paulis to stay afloat. [1940] Due to WW2, a good portion of the population went to go fight. [1949] A school opens up on Johnson Road. [1953] Robinson Park opens up across the road from P3CO, the population is now around 2100 people. [1955] Fernsville Cold Storage opens up just north of Cassia Creek on Johnson Road. [1959] PCER shuts down passenger service [1960] PCER pulls down it's wires and renames itself to the Paulis County Railroad (PCRR) [1965] Highway 10 is built which bypasses the old Paulis Highway. The highway is grade separated on the eastern side of the river, passes over the PCRR and Paulis River, then merges into Robinson Avenue. Due to the increased traffic, Robinson Avenue was widened and all streets and Alleys (other than Johnson Road, Horace Avenue and Center Street) were disconnected from Robinson. [1966] The PCRR Freight Depot is closed [1967] A new neighborhood north of Cassia Creek is built, the population now is around 3500 people. [1971] A new school is built on Creek Road while the PCRR Freight Depot is demolished [1978] After being vacant for almost 20 years, the PCER station building is turned into a library [1980] PCRR closes it's line from Fernsville to Wallace Town. The trackage stays in place but is left to rot. [1986] PCRR sells the ROW to the county [1990] The trackage is removed up to the Johnson Road Crossing. The bridge over the Paulis River stays. [1992] Due to cost reductions, P3CO closes the warehouse on Robinson Avenue. [1995] PCRR abandons almost all of it's trackage within Fernsville, aside from a small portion on the east end of town. The ROW is sold to the county [2000] Fernsville Cold Storage closes, a park and new houses are built on the land it used to occupy. [2002] The old PCRR ROW is partially built over by a new highway on ramp. [2007] A Rail trail is created on the old ROW within Fernsville. The trail goes on the old bridge which was also restored. [2011] A neighborhood is built where P3CO was. [2015] New apartments are built where the freight depot once was, the population is now around 9700.
