You already adapted to the cold, but the climate instead dropped temperatures to the point where the cold isn't endurable anymore. But then, you start seeing odd anomalies, which serve a purpose to a bigger event.
Credits are in the project :) I apologize that this mod doesn't match the theme (which is cold surrealism) and in the next version, I will try to focus more the theme as well.
